1. Checklist – do you have what it takes?
Before applying, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:

International students

NOTE: Deadline for international application is 31 October 2010

  • Do you meet the following full time requirements?
    • All applicants are required to present a portfolio of artwork. We require a minimum of 6 artwork pieces for assessment. This artwork can be made up of any medium, namely; drawings / sketches, paintings, sculptures, digital artwork and anything else you believe will motivate your application.

    • A National Senior Certificate (grade 12) or equivalent if schooled outside of South Africa.
    • Communicate in Englsh
    • Art background
    • Computer literate
    • An avid interest in animation
    • Consider yourself creative
  • If you meet these requirements then send your portfolio to The Animation School for an assessment report. A telephone interview may be scheduled with a lecturer.
  • Begin proceedings for student VISA, accommodation reservations, medical insurance and airline tickets.
  • Register online using your password.
  • Make a payment.
  • Once registered, we will supply you with all documents and correspondence needed for application of a student visa.
  • Upon receipt of student VISA, send us a reference number and copies.
  • Arrange return airline tickets and confirm reservation for accommodation.
  • Arrive in South Africa at least 1 week prior to commencement date.

South African students

  • Do you meet the following full time requirements?
    • Can you communicate in English.
    • Be at least 18 years or older.
    • Have passed Grade 12.
    • Have an art background.
    • Consider yourself to be creative.
    • Be computer literate.
    • Have a professional interest in animation.
  • If you meet the above requirements you will need to set up a personal interview with The Animation School for portfolio assessment. Should you be accepted a password for online registration will be issued.
  • Register Online or personally at the academy.
  • Make a payment.
  • Arrange transport to and from The Animation School and confirm reservation for accommodation (if needed).
  • Arrive on the specified starting date at 09h00.
